Native Warriors Claim Responsibility for taking Olympic Flag
March 7th, 2007
Coast Salish Territory [Vancouver, Canada]
In the early morning hours of Tuesday, March 6th, 2007, we removed the Olympic Flag from its flag-pole at Vancouver City Hall. We pried open the access panel on the pole with a crowbar, using a bolt-cutter, cut the metal cable/halyard inside, causing the flag to fall to the ground.
We claim this action in honor of Harriet Nahanee, our elder-warrior, who was given a death sentence by the BC courts for her courageous stand in defending Mother Earth.
We stand in solidarity with those fighting against the destruction caused by the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.
No Olympics on Stolen Land!
Native Warrior Society
All I can say is: Our children must know that some collaborated, and other resisted.
No Olympics on Stolen Land!
Note: This was published by the "Native Warrior Society", sent to major Vancouver media outlets, and organizations in Vancouver. I only received the email from a forward. This was not published by me, nor do they have any connection to "Liberated Yet?" aside from me posting it here in this blog post.

You should clean up the spelling and grammar mistakes in this posting, since they weren't in the original communication, but this is being reposted all over the internet.
Wups! when I first re-wrote this on text edit, I cleaned them all up, but I forgot to switch them over the blog.
Thanks for letting me know.

Though I tried explaining the logic of such actions as the flag removal she is not having any of it.Indeed she will not publish any comments that are in opposition to her's,no matter how reasonable, polite
No surprise there
In fact Natives should fly their flag(s) side by side with the Olympic flag to show the world their down with the Olympics. You know, because the olympics are all about "honor","sportsmanship",doing the right thing" etc etc.Money whats money got to do with the olympics. The fact that it built on or using disputed land is besides the point it seems
such a dastardly deed,"stealing" a flag "bad Indians","bad"....

I love how much media response and talk has caused because of this. This act only works as a mirror for people to look at themselves and wonder "What is my morals and values" , and for those principles to be challenged.
Thanks for the link. I posted something. Not sure if it will stay though.
